Mandeville Berry, Jr., is a retired manufacturing team leader with General Motors in Delta Township. He has a thirty-year proven track record in the automotive industry, working with engineers, team leaders, supervisors, and production operators. Mandeville has excellent skills in fostering collaborative relationships and strong communication. Mandeville works independently and collaboratively with a high degree of personal and professional integrity. He is capable of dealing with vague information and making prompt judgments based on available data. Mandeville is an excellent problem solver with a proven track record of increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Mandeville holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging from Michigan State University. He is married to Judith and has two children, Ebony Berry-Schumake and Mandeville Berry, III.
Dr. Lloyd Bingman is the President and CEO of Brighter Day Consulting, committee to providing workforce development opportunities for all. His philosophy on workforce development advocates ensuring that all individuals, including children, youth, and adults, regardless of economic status or educational attainment, have access to the best tools and strategies to improve career opportunities. That will improve their lives, family situations, and the right to compete globally in the 21st-century workforce. He is married to Teresa and has one son and one daughter.
Dr. Stanley Chase is the retired Senior Vice President for Advancement & Governmental Relations at Lansing Community College. Dr. Chase provided strategic planning leadership for college-wide initiatives and represented the college in various corporate, community, workforce development, and educational arenas. Dr. Chase also served as the college’s chief legislative liaison, developing and maintaining open communication with local, regional, state, and federal legislators and constituents, tracking legislation, and cultivating partnership opportunities. Additionally, Stan oversaw all external communication, encompassing Marketing, Public Relations, and Media Relations. Dr. Chase holds a B.A. in Education, Bowie State University, an M.A., Michigan State University, and a Ph.D., Michigan State University. Dr. Chase is a native of Trappe, Maryland, and currently resides in Lansing with his wife. They have two sons and two daughters.
Attorney Myron S. Freeman Sr., a Certified Public Accountant and certified financial planner, is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and presently resides in East Lansing, Michigan. Myron is a co-chair sponsor of Uplift Our Youth Foundation, a past chair of the Capital Area Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission, and has served on the boards of Capital Area United Way and Urban League of Greater Lansing. He has served for over 10 years as a mentor to the young men of The Turning Point of Lansing and as a former member of the Sparrow Specialty Hospital board. Currently, he serves on his church’s trustee board and is a current member of the Edward W. Sparrow Hospital board and Sparrow’s system-wide finance committee. Myron enjoys working with young people, supporting numerous community organizations, and relishes opportunities to give back. He is happily married to Dee Freeman (an acclaimed poet) and is the proud father of two sons and a daughter.
Archie Hudson, Jr., has worked in the financial services industry for over 40 years. Before becoming self-employed as a mortgage consultant in the greater Lansing community, Hudson served as CFO of GMP Development Group, a nonprofit manage group overseeing 423 affordable housing units in San Diego, California. Postsecondary credentials included a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northwood University with a major in management. He resides in Dewitt, MI, and has one daughter, Aaliyah Mari Hudson.
Wayne Lynn is the Director of Transmission Operations and Engineering for the Lansing Board of Water and Light. In that role, Wayne is responsible for the day-to-day operations of electric overhead and underground construction, maintenance, and service restoration, as well as Engineering and Vegetation Management.Wayne has also served as Executive Manager of Customer Service for Consumers Energy and as Executive Manager of Electric and Gas Operations. Wayne spent three years at Exelon Corp., a Chicago-based company, where he served as Director of Electric Reliability and Engineering Support. Lynn is married to Melanie and has three daughters: Lauren, Brittney, and Chanel.
James McCurtis is a communication specialist with the Michigan Education Special Services Association (MESSA) in East Lansing. He is responsible for developing and coordinating communication strategies, public relations, media, materials, and crisis programs to support MESA Field Representatives, MEA UniServ Directors, coordinating councils, and local associations in areas where retaining MESSA or securing new business is a critical issue. He is active in the community with the following: Meridian Township Planning Commission, 2023, Capital Area United Way (2020-present), The Lansing Branch of the NAACP–second vice president (2020-2022); communications chair (2020-present), The Turning Point of Lansing mentor/elder for 7th-12th grade young men (2020-present), City of Lansing Mobile Food Pantry volunteer (2012-present) Greater Lansing Area Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission (2011-2021), Area Director of Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Delta Lambda Chapter (2012-2021). He is married and has three sons who have participated in The Turning Point of
Lansing.
Jonathan Rosewood is a dedicated educator and community leader with over a decade of experience in student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives serving BIPOC and underrepresented communities. Currently serving as Senior Associate for Outreach and Engagement at the Capital Area College Access Network and Program Coordinator at The Turning Point of Lansing, Jonathan trains and educates adults and young people on opportunities after high school and GED that will lead community members to higher education and better career opportunities. A 2012 Michigan State University graduate with a degree in Governance, Advocacy, and Lifelong Learning, he brings exceptional relationship-building skills and a passion for creating pathways to success for racially, culturally, and socially diverse student populations.

Helping to give African American males in grades 6 through 12 developmental and emotional support through the direct and regular interaction with African American male adults in The Turning Point of Lansing that will supplement the work of parents and teachers.
Our Mentors are trained, equipped and prepared to work with the young men in our program. All of our mentors go through an extensive background check and interview process. Each individual is selected by other Mentors and Board Members who we believe will add value to our program and to the young men that come through the program.
